Official Guide to ABA-Approved JD Programs
Wake Forest University School of Law, established in 1894, is located in Winston-Salem, a culturally rich mid-sized city in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. The law school is located on the beautiful 135-acre main campus of Wake Forest University. Over 80% of students are from out-of-state.
First-year class sizes are smaller than many other law schools in the nation, with approximately 50 students in each section and 25 students in first-year Legal Analysis, Writing, and Research sections. Our faculty will call you by name, invite you to their homes, join you for lunch, and encourage your involvement in research and community service.
In keeping with the University’s motto of Pro Humanitate, the Wake Forest University School of Law has continued to build on its legacy of developing not just lawyers, but “citizen lawyers,” who will have a positive impact at the local, state, national, and international levels.

All admitted first-year JD applicants are considered automatically for merit-based scholarships. Tuition and fees figures are for the 2025-26 academic year for 1L JD students. Student health insurance is excluded from the "Fees" figure above but is available at an additional cost.
For the 2024-25 academic year, 80% of JD students had a scholarship; of those that had a scholarship, the median scholarship award amount was $40,000.
The law school does not award scholarships that may be reduced or eliminated based on law school academic performance other than failure to maintain good standing.
Wake Forest Law is a proud participant in the Yellow Ribbon program. For the 2025-26 academic year, the law school provides an "unlimited" match (not to exceed net tuition and mandatory fees) to an "unlimited" number of qualifying students.
Admission Decisions: Beyond the Numbers
First-year JD students are admitted only in the fall semester for full-time residential study. Both a regular and binding decision application are available. The applicant’s file must be complete for consideration, including receipt of a valid unexpired LSAT and/or GRE score report. The first-year JD application opens September 1st. Applying early is encouraged.
